THE WHIRLWIND THAT WAS GAME 4 CAME AND WENT…

It was a tight, intense, frantic game and the Golden State Warriors showed that this is not over yet despite Boston’s dominance in Game 3.

The 1st quarter set off at a lightning pace and scoring was prolific. Stephen Curry snatched 12 points, wearing high-tops that led to speculation about the strength of his ankle after a potential injury last time.

Astute stat-munchers and sharp gamblers would not have failed to notice that the Warriors were 5-0 in games following a loss in the NBA Playoffs. Clearly, a team that responds to adversity and bounces back well.

Just as it looked as though our Jump Hub tip to bet the over (+214.5 @ 1.90) was an absolute given (see original article below), the scoring wheels fell off for both teams.

Brown and Curry scored more points from the paint (Brown also accumulated 3 fouls to compliment his 10 points in 9 minutes)

The reduced scoring was not down to a lessening of pace. The back-and-forth action was still rapid. It was down to the number of missed chances.

AS THE COMMENTATOR HILARIOUSLY PUT IT AT HALF TIME;

“THEY COULDN’T HIT A BULL IN THE ASS WITH AN IRONING BOARD RIGHT NOW”

The game was an exhilarating, tit-for-tat spectacle from start to finish. The score was so tight it was still 79-78 at the end of the 3rd.

Jayson Tatum was exceptional once more and Marcus Smart was an absolute rock yet again.

There were more missed shots, sure. But there were some superb drives under the rim, beautifully highlighted by Curry’s dance around 2 defenders in the 4th as he collected 40 points.

Without him, the Golden State Warriors would not have had the firepower to overcome the Boston Celtics.

He was a total game-changer in this encounter

The series is superbly poised and we cannot wait for the next installment.

Don’t miss it!

The 2022 NBA Finals are proof that defenses can still get you all the way to the championships. This season’s matchup sees 2 of the league’s best defensive teams face each other in the ultimate challenge. It is the first time that 2 top-5 regular season defenses have clashed in the Finals for 12 years and it is already proving to be a tight and exciting series. But not always a defensive one as Boston just proved!

The Golden State Warriors have been the more offensively dominant team in the playoffs this year and have scored more freely and consistently than at almost any point during the regular season.

However, they came up against a fast, strong, and ferocious team in Boston tonight and just could not cope…

Despite Jayson Tatum sitting behind the hoop and holding his shoulder in the first few minutes, he went on to play a very important role in the game.

Both he and Jaylen Brown showed their true star status in game 3. Brown hit 27 points, took 9 rebounds, and contributed 5 assists. Tatum had 26 points, 6 rebounds, and 9 assists. Superb stuff that was extremely capably backed up by the likes of Smart with 24 points / 5 assists, and Robert Williams with a huge contribution of 10 rebounds, 4 blocks, and 3 steals.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr;

”I THOUGHT THE OFFENSIVE REBOUNDS WERE JUST A KILLER. … THAT WAS REALLY THE DIFFERENCE IN THE GAME,”

The Golden State Warriors got an impressive 31 points from Stephen Curry, appearing in his 6th Finals in 13 years. They also got 25 from Klay Thompson, but simply couldn’t compete with Boston’s firepower.

They were, frankly, blown away in the first half by the Boston Celtics. Despite a major comeback in the 3rd, to lead the game for the first time since 2-0, they sagged again in the 4th and looked like a beaten side with 10 minutes to go.

This sets up an enticing game 4 on Friday. The 2022 NBA Finals are on fire. Expect fireworks in what we expect to be a relatively high-scoring game. Boston will undoubtedly take confidence from how an all-out attacking game worked for them and are likely to use a blitz tactic again. The Warriors have no choice but to respond.

They can try to slow the pace and frustrate the Celtics but as the smaller, slightly older team that is easier said than done. There’s a solid chance that they too will go on the offensive and with the caliber of scorers they have, there is no reason to think they can’t get a ton of points. That’s why we recommend betting the over on this one.

Having said that, we still can’t look past Boston’s dominance last game and are tipping them to cover the spread.
