The Jerry West Trophy is an award given to the player who is the Regular Season 'NBA Clutch Player Of The Year'.
The Trophy, different to college basketball Award (not trophy), is selected by a heralded media panel who, prior to voting, are given a short list decided by the NBA coaches themselves.
A very recent addition to the official NBA list of awards, the inaugural winner in 2023 was De'Aaron Fox, followed by Steph Curry in 2024.
So what does the Trophy mean? Well, Jerry West was widely regarded as 'Mr Clutch'. So not necessarily the best player in the NBA, that belongs to the MVP.
The official description from the NBA says, the Jerry West trophy will “honor the NBA player who best comes through for his teammates in the clutch.”.
